I’ve got it all – pens, the notebooks, the access to a couple of great communities for learning and sharing, but I’m still in the process of bringing order to my writing.
Bringing Order To My Writing
In the past, I was happy to only blog. Put a post together and get it out and then visit other blogs and comment. It was fun. It made me happy for quite . But there was something missing.
Over the last few months, I’m drawn to more serious writing. That needs a lot more discipline. And commitment. It needs a better understanding of myself and what makes me tick as a person and as a writer.
I’ve realized is that we all have writing seasons – time when we’re all out of words and other times when we can’t stop writing – and we need to understand them better. Also we need to work on our priorities and figure out where writing comes in. Finally, we need to find routines and rituals that will help us to stay the course. They are the three things I am working on right now. I will write about them soon as I bring order to my writing.

Hi Corinne,
I have definitely been in this writing boat. At times, reigning in my writing felt impossible. But I allow myself to trust my gut from post to post. As a rule though, the slower I write the more orderly, crisp, precise and clear my writing becomes.

Absolutely! Writing absolutely has seasons! I’m learning this, and it’s such a valuable help in preventing burnout. Looking forward to hearing more about your writing journey!
I agree, Corinne! There are seasons to writing for sure – I went through a long dry spell post pandemic. I’ve started writing again, more on my new site – maybe because it’s new and exciting, or because I feel like exploring a more serious style of writing that’s less about SEO and writing for an audience. I also have some ideas for books/ebooks, but I need to get disciplined about actually sitting down and writing them!

I think having a routine helps me write better. Otherwise I can’t get motivated to write anything.
I love how committed you are to your writing and blogging, Michelle. Thanks for the inspiration.
